Saudis will be able to rent out property for Hajj pilgrims
According to local media, from now on, citizens of Saudi Arabia can rent out residential property to pilgrims performing the Hajj.
The Housing Committee of the Pilgrims in Mecca said it has begun accepting requests from citizens to rent accommodation to accommodate Hajj pilgrims. The committee urged property owners to contact the relevant bureaus to obtain the necessary permits. The Mecca City Hall also said it would continue to accept applications.
Engineering advisory bureaus accredited by the mayor's office and civil defense will inspect the properties to make sure they comply with the rules, and only then will issue a "certificate of suitability" to the owners of the properties. Based on this, the Pilgrims' Housing Committee will issue permits for apartments. The committee urged citizens to contact them for information on permit requirements.
Saudi Arabia issued the by-law this month to stimulate the private hospitality industry, according to the state-run SPA news agency. The ruling, approved by tourism minister Ahmed al-Khatib, says Saudis can get permission to rent out property for a fee.
Under the new rule, a private tourist hospitality must be a property that is intended for either residential or agricultural use. No more than 3 permits are issued to one person in one object.
Citizens applying for a permit are required to provide an electronic document of ownership or a lease agreement that confirms the right to own or use the property related to the permit.
