Dubai to build world's second tallest tower
Another stunning skyscraper is coming soon to Dubai, which is predicted to be the second tallest building in the world after the iconic Burj Khalifa. This was confirmed in a recent tweet by Farhad Azizi, CEO of Dubai-based Azizi Developments. He officially announced that they were building what would become the second tallest building in the world. His father Mirwais Azizi (Founder and Chairman of Azizi Group and Azizi Developments) was recently invited to speak at BBC Persia where he talked about their plans to build a new tower in Dubai that will share the sky with the Burj Khalifa and other skyscrapers in Dubai.
The younger Azizi did not reveal the name, specific height or composition of the new tower, but he previously told the Khaleej Times - in a previous interview - that it would be built in a prime location on Sheikh Zayed Road. As for the name of this new tower, it has yet to be chosen, but it will eventually represent the Azizi Developments brand. Farhad also added that this will be a breakthrough achievement for the Azizi brand and they can't help but be proud of it. Especially remembering his humble origins in Afghanistan when his father started the company with $500 in 1989.
The plan for the tower was first unveiled at the Cityscape Dubai event in November 2022. At that time, the construction of the second tallest tower in Dubai was announced. Plans are now underway to build the world's second tallest building, which could surpass Merdeka 118 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The height of the 118-story skyscraper in Southeast Asia is 678.9 meters. That's not enough to beat the 828m Burj Khalifa's record, but more than enough to push the 632m Shanghai Tower to third place.
